Our Team

Roddy Rowan and Gary Joyce founded Genesis in 1994 and lead the firm. The Genesis team comprises only experienced people who have the talent and track record to advise clients and manage relationships at the highest levels of business and public life.


Roddy Rowan, Senior Partner

Roddy established Genesis in 1995 having spent the earlier part of his career in the advertising industry. He was co-founder of Dimension, Ireland’s first multi-disciplinary marketing communications group, which was acquired by McConnells Advertising in 1994.

With more than twenty years’ consultancy experience across all business sectors, Roddy specialises in strategic planning and facilitation. He works with boards and senior management teams to address complex customer, market and organisational issues and enable them to drive out plans that are ambitious, realistic and executable.

In addition, his work includes market strategy, business development, strategic alliances and large scale project implementation for a diverse range of clients in the banking, finance, energy, technology, and FMCG sectors. He has a track record of success in bringing early stage businesses from concept through to full commercial realisation.


He is a member of the board of The Community Foundation for Ireland and a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisors (IMCA).


Gary Joyce, Managing Partner

Gary is Managing Partner of Genesis, which she co-founded with Roddy Rowan in 1995. She was Managing Director of Dimension, the marketing communications company, from 1985-1995.


During her career she has contributed to the creation, development and re-positioning of leading companies and brands. Her work at Genesis includes strategic planning;  brand, service and product innovation; customer experience design; organisation engagement and corporate and brand development.


Gary is a Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisors.   She has extensive non-executive experience and is a former Chairperson of ACCBank and Bewley’s Oriental Cafes.  She is currently on the Board of Dublin Bus, Sam McCauley Chemists and Galway Arts Festival and is a member of the Governing Authority of Dublin City University.


Gary graduated from UCD with a Bachelor of Social Science degree, and has further qualifications in Organisation Development , Internal Consulting and Women’s Studies, .  She is an experienced facilitator and holds an Advanced Management Diploma in Business & Executive Coaching from the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business.



Julie Whiriskey, Consulting Director

Julie joined Genesis in 2006 with more than 12 years’ consulting experience in Ireland and the UK. Her roles have included the establishment of a multi-national IT subsidiary, public consultation, international marketing and large scale complex programme management.


Julie is a qualified EFQM assessor and holds a B.Comm from NUI, Galway. She has undertaken post-graduate studies in Computer Systems & Applications at University College, Dublin.



Conor Kavanagh, Consulting Director

Conor joined Genesis in 2005 following a number of years at Unilever as Group Product Manager where he managed a number of leading fmcg brands. He has extensive experience in strategy development, brand management, market research, communication channel management, brand communication, innovation, brand activation and facilitation.


Prior to completing his Master’s degree, Conor spent a year working and studying in Japan where he worked with TEPCO, the world’s second largest electricity production facility. Conor holds an M.Sc. in Marketing Practice from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, UCD and a BA in International Marketing & Japanese from Dublin City University.




Charntelle Boshoff, Financial Controller

Charntelle hails from Kwa-Zulu Natal and joined Genesis in 2007 having emigrated with her family to Ireland from South Africa.

With a Diploma in Book Keeping from Damelin College, Pietermaritzburg, Charntelle has extensive experience in the preparation and management of accounts for business. She has worked in a number of sectors including healthcare, legal and real estate.


Mark Cullen, Associate

Mark is the former Director of W5, our specialist research subsidiary. He has left the company to pursue new business interests but remains an associate, working with us on a number of projects.  A highly experienced researcher with a client-side marketing background, Mark holds an MSc in Marketing Practice from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, UCD. He is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and ESOMAR.



Ceara Nevin, Senior Consultant

With more than 15 years’ pure research experience, Ceara’s career has spanned client-side and agency roles in the UK and Ireland in the fields of academic and consumer research. Since joining Genesis as a Senior Consultant in 2006, she has led a range of complex research programmes and developed a number of innovative research techniques for our clients, providing fresh, actionable and insightful analysis to support decision-making. Ceara is a graduate in Management Science from Trinity College, Dublin and is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the ESOMAR.


Janice McAdam, Senior Consultant
Having worked as an associate on several projects with Genesis over the past few years, Janice joined the company as a senior consultant earlier this year.  With more than 20 years’ experience in communications roles and latterly as a consultant, Janice has worked extensively in the cultural and not-for-profit sectors.  Her expertise includes marketing communications, facilitation, coaching, lobbying, stakeholder engagement and project management.

She is a qualified coach with a particular interest in helping people manage change.   Janice is a graduate of York University and the National University of Ireland.  She is a Board member of the Dublin Dance Festival and the YWCA and is on the National Steering Committee of the National Campaign for the Arts.



Dawn Fraser, PA/Office Manager

Dawn recently joined Genesis having spent 6 years working as a PA/administrator at the University of Oxford. Previously she was an Account Director for UK Event Marketing agencies Firestar and Oxford International, project managing live events and incentive travel programmes for clients in both the public and private sectors.  


Dawn also spent 8 years running global customer conferences in the technology sector for Oracle and PeopleSoft prior to which she lived in Spain and Greece working for the Tui Travel group.  


Dawn is a graduate of Napier University, Edinburgh, where she studied Business and Languages (Spanish and French).


Richard O'Donnell, Consultant

Richard joined Genesis from Microsoft where he worked in Project Management for the Data Centre Development Team.


Before this he spent a number of years working as a Portfolio Analyst in Irelandia Investments. Irelandia Investments is the Ryanair family investment company and the leading global developer of low cost airlines. Here Richard worked in portfolio investing, business planning and strategy development, gaining considerable experience in venture capital investing, from due diligence right through to exit.


Richard holds a MSc in International Business from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business and a Bachelors of Business Studies from the Institute of Technology Dun Laoghaire.


Richard is also active in social entrepreneurship and is involved in a large scale social innovation, Ashoka’s Change Nation, which aims to bring the world’s leading social innovations to Ireland. As a volunteer Richard is leading a team in implementing one of the world’s leading youth restorative justice programmes here, to reduce the number of youth in our justice system.
