Roddy Rowan and Gary Joyce founded Genesis in 1994 and lead the firm. The Genesis team comprises only experienced people who have the talent and track record to advise clients and manage relationships at the highest levels of business and public life.

Roddy Rowan, Partner

Roddy is a serial entrepreneur, having co-founded Genesis with Gary Joyce in 1995 and Dimension, Ireland’s first multidisciplinary marketing communications company in 1985. Under Roddy’s leadership, Dimension was the fastest growing agency in Ireland for a decade. The business was acquired by McConnell’s Advertising in 1995.


Roddy has extensive business development experience and a track record of success in turnarounds and bringing businesses from conceptual stage through to full commercial development.  His expertise includes strategic planning, brand development, complex stakeholder facilitation and innovation.  He is retained as an advisor to a number of business leaders.

Gary Joyce, Partner

Gary co-founded Genesis with Roddy Rowan in 1995 and partnered Roddy in establishing Dimension, Ireland’s first multidisciplinary marketing communications company in 1985.
 
With a sociology background, she has a lifetime’s experience and interest in consumer behaviour, communications and the capacity of organisations to respond and build successful enterprises around customer needs.  Her work includes brand strategy, strategic planning, organisation engagement and complex stakeholder facilitation.  She numbers amongst her clients leading companies and brands, not-for-profits, arts and public sector organisations.  She also coaches a number of business leaders.
 
Gary has extensive non-executive experience in both public and private sector organisations.  She was appointed by the Irish government as Chairman of ACC Bank and also chaired a number of industry taskforces at the behest of government. 
 
Gary is a Fellow of the Marketing Institute of Ireland.

Julie Whiriskey, Senior Consultant

Julie joined Genesis in 2006 with more than 12 years’ consulting experience in Ireland and the UK. Her roles have included the establishment of a multi-national IT subsidiary, public consultation, international marketing and large scale complex programme management. Julie is a qualified EFQM assessor and holds a B.Comm from NUI, Galway. She has undertaken post-graduate studies in Computer Systems & Applications at University College, Dublin.

Conor Kavanagh, Senior Consultant

Conor joined Genesis in 2005 following a number of years at Unilever as Group Product Manager where he managed a number of leading fmcg brands. He has extensive experience in strategy development, brand management, market research, communication channel management, brand communication, innovation, brand activation and facilitation.


Prior to completing his Master’s degree, Conor spent a year working and studying in Japan where he worked with TEPCO, the world’s second largest electricity production facility. Conor holds an M.Sc. in Marketing Practice from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, UCD and a BA in International Marketing & Japanese from Dublin City University.

Nicky Cullen, Consultant & Project Manager

Nicky is a Consultant and Project Manager at Genesis research subsidiary, W5. He leads W5’s mystery shopping projects and designs and manages CATI, postal, face-to-face and online projects for a range of clients. He has a BA in Business from Dublin Business School.

Emily Miller, Project Manager

With a background in marketing communications and experience in media and production in Ireland and Canada, Emily joined Genesis as a Project Manager in 2008. She is responsible for project co-ordination, client liaison and support across the business. Emily holds a Diploma in Advertising and Communications from Dublin Institute of Technology and is currently studying for a Higher Diploma in Interactive Media & Web Design.

Charntelle Boshoff, Financial Controller

Charntelle hails from Kwa-Zulu Natal and joined Genesis in 2007 having emigrated with her family to Ireland from South Africa.


With a Diploma in Book Keeping from Damelin College, Pietermaritzburg, Charntelle has extensive experience in the preparation and management of accounts for business. She has worked in a number of sectors including healthcare, legal and real estate.

Mark Cullen, Director

Mark is Director of W5, our specialist research subsidiary. A highly experienced researcher with a client-side marketing background, he leads the research business and is responsible for the quality of all research programmes, client service, business development and management of the research team. Mark joined Genesis in 2004 and holds an MSc in Marketing Practice from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, UCD. He is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and ESOMAR.

Ceara Nevin, Senior Consultant

With more than 15 years’ pure research experience, Ceara’s career has spanned client-side and agency roles in the UK and Ireland in the fields of academic and consumer research. Since joining Genesis as a Senior Consultant in 2006, she has led a range of complex research programmes and developed a number of innovative research techniques for our clients, providing fresh, actionable and insightful analysis to support decision-making.  Ceara is a graduate in Management Science from Trinity College, Dublin and is a member of the Marketing Institute of Ireland and the ESOMAR.

Gwen Dempsey, Senior Consultant

Gwen Dempsey has recently joined Genesis as a Senior Consultant.

Gwen has extensive strategy and commercial marketing experience with multinational blue chip FMCG companies such as Cadbury, Nestlé and Bord na Móna. She has strong experience across business strategy development, consumer research & insight and brand development. Gwen has led a number of projects which have resulted in significant change to the direction and organisational restructure of a number of businesses.

Prior to joining Genesis Gwen worked for an Irish commercial semi-state company where she created and led the annual strategic planning process,

Gwen graduated from the University of Limerick in 1991 with a BA.
