Creating Pathways that Empower and Enable – Strategy 2025-2030
The Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) is a well-established organisation in the disability services sector. They support adults and children with complex needs and deliver highly specialised services nationally. In 2024, CRC retained Genesis to facilitate the development of a transformative five-year strategy (2025–2030) at a critical moment of change. New models of care, evolving expectations and a more complex governance environment meant CRC needed a clear, forward-looking strategy that was both ambitious and practical.
The approach began with an extensive internal and external analysis of CRC’s role and performance within Ireland’s disabilities ecosystem. As part of this, Genesis engaged directly with service users and their families to ensure their voices were heard and reflected in the strategy. This informed a structured process of engagement with the board, executive and wider organisation to define a new strategic direction that would position CRC as a leader in disability services while ensuring person-centred, needs- and rights-based approaches.

Alongside board and senior management workshops, Genesis facilitated a series of World Café sessions with staff across the organisation. These inclusive conversations enabled staff to reflect on CRC ‘at its best’, co-create purpose and ambition statements, and shape the values and behaviours that would define the future culture. Their feedback directly influenced the strategic direction by challenging assumptions, refining ambition and ensuring a strengths-based approach.
The draft strategy was then socialised at a major organisation-wide event, where staff could explore the strategic priorities at themed stations and contribute feedback ahead of board approval.
The resulting strategy, Creating Pathways that Empower and Enable, defines CRC’s purpose as delivering the right support, in the right place, at the right time for people with complex disabilities. Its ambition is to change perceptions so that disability is recognised as a difference that enriches society. Six strategic priorities now provide a framework for action, underpinned by values co-created with staff: Person-centredness, Quality, Respect, Courage, Collaboration, and Stewardship.
Because the strategy was built with those who avail of and deliver CRC’s services every day, it has strong ownership and legitimacy. The strategy provides CRC with a clear framework to navigate the evolving healthcare landscape while maintaining its commitment to excellence in disability services and positioning the organisation as a catalyst for broader change in how Ireland understands and supports people with disabilities.
Testimonial
Genesis understood the scale of transition we needed to make and designed a process that brought our board, leadership team and critically our service-users and staff into the strategy development. Their approach ensured our people feel genuine ownership of the direction, which is essential when you're asking staff to lead significant organisational change.
